At a glance.
- Modernized a highly data dense regulatory website into an intuitive, user first public resource.
- Migrated and restructured thousands of pages into a scalable Drupal platform designed for clarity, searchability, and long-term governance.
- Delivered a modern content management foundation supported by documentation, training, and operational readiness for sustained agency ownership.
Untangling complex data.
FERC.gov serves as the authoritative source for federal energy regulation, compliance, and reporting. Over time, the site had grown into a highly fragmented, static web presence containing tens of thousands of pages, making it difficult for users to locate critical information efficiently.
The legacy content model created navigation challenges, duplicated materials, and limited search effectiveness. Regulatory documents, filings, and guidance were buried within dense page structures, resulting in a needle in a haystack experience for landowners, industry stakeholders, and the public.
To move forward, FERC needed to simplify its content architecture, migrate large volumes of legacy material, and establish a scalable foundation that could support accurate reporting, governance, and future growth without disrupting access to mission critical information.
Empowerment by design.
Mobomo designed the FERC platform not only for launch, but for sustained success. Alongside the technical solution, we equipped FERC teams with the documentation, training, and operational practices needed to manage the platform confidently and independently.
Enablement & training
Mobomo delivered structured training and hands on knowledge transfer to prepare FERC staff to operate and maintain the platform. This included administrator guidance, publishing workflows, and operational best practices tailored to FERC’s internal teams and governance model.
Operational readiness
We provided governing and administrative documentation to support long term platform management, including environment oversight, change processes, and operational responsibilities. The goal was to transition routine administration to FERC while maintaining clear escalation paths and support continuity.
Governance & best practices
Mobomo supported FERC’s security and change management teams with documented best practices for system configuration, updates, and software implementation. This governance framework helped reinforce consistency, reduce risk, and support ongoing platform evolution without introducing unnecessary complexity.
Mobomo’s work with FERC extended beyond launch to establish durable governance, sustainable workflows, and a platform built to evolve alongside regulatory needs. By prioritizing usability, content clarity, and organizational readiness, the redesigned FERC.gov continues to serve as a reliable, user-centered resource for complex regulatory information.
